There was once a point in my life I thought ‘it would be nice to be a farmer’. To have that as something I could do, would be a big flex. You know why? It takes patience and consistency, and faith to continue watching a seed germinate and grow into a plant, and then begin to flower, bear fruits, harvest, have its leaves fall off and then do it all over again. That’s the kind of patience and consistency I hope you and me can have in our walk with our Lord Jesus.
The Bible does mention some wise words: there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven (Ecc 3:1). Truth be told, sometimes these times and seasons feel late or too early or just not nearly the right time. Well, another thing we should remember (loll guess bio classes were great after all), every seed is different and grows at the different pace. While lifecycles are same, they do have different biological clocks.
Why does this even matter? Hmm, well think about it this way, you invest time, energy, tithes, offerings, etc into a ministry, waiting for an expected time of harvest. While one should not give with the intention of getting back, but give cheerfully because we do know that what we give goes to support the work of God, it also does mention a blessing (Luke 6:38)
My family reminded me of this, while it may seem meaningless at first, build that habit of giving and giving cheerfully, as it if it were unto God (which it actually is). Your heart posture, does matter. A seed can germinate with good soil, but there are conditions that also matter, like water, and oxygen. Same with whatever we bring to God, the conditions of our heart matter and the right conditions ensure that that seed germinates.
Interestingly enough, we encounter moments when we are encouraged to give time, talents, money etc towards the advancement of the kingdom of God, and we truly can. So here’s some encouragement today, remember who receives it (Goddddd) and remember your heart posture and wait patiently as the seeds germinate and begin to take root! It might surprise you, the timelines, but God designed them, He’s always on time, you’d definitely see the harvest soon enough.
This week, I encourage you to search out your heart, and find what it means to give cheerfully and begin to practice that!
