She’s wiggling tiny toes
In total amazement of the pattern they follow when lifted one after the other
Just then little dark brownish-orange colored leaves fall on her toes
And in an instant carried by the wind into the air
And now she’s chasing after the wind which holds the most beautiful leaf she’s ever seen
Just as she’s about to catch the leaf, a big hand swoops in and holds on to it
Now who would that be with such big feet standing next to her tiny little ones?
Before she could guess, she heard her pet name echo from the voice of the one she’s known in like, I don’t know, forever?
And with a surety, she looks up at the tallest human she’s ever known, her safest place, her hiding place,
With biggest, beautifulest (if that’s a word lol) eyes ever, eyes in wonder and adoration, she says ‘hi dad’.
He then smiles back, extends his hand out, and the little missy responds by placing hers firmly in his.
He hands her the leaf in her free hand, and they do a little curtesy of thanks, and off they go walking down the road, giggling at the randomest things. Her tiny legs scurrying after him and doing little jumps of joy while trying to match his stride.
Her curious little brain asking a 1000 and 1 questions and our steady father answering each and every one.

This scene reminds of what Jesus told His disciples when they tried to shoo away the parents who brought their kids to encounter Jesus. He said, “Let the little children come to me…”(Mark 19:14) . He was acting like an overprotective big brother and I love it. At the same time, mimics the Father, who welcomes us into His Kingdom with open arms.
It’s interesting to thinks that little kids have not that many worries in the world. They know with a certainty, when present, who their parents are, and that so long as they are there, their needs will be provided for. So it really does seem like they’re more concerned with being young, playing around, enjoying what is known to them as a world where everything looks great.
How does this relate to us? If we have a father who is God, and we are His children, the same should be true for us. With that same assurance, it would be that we’d need be concerned with really hanging out with God, (you know how the little kids bother their parents loll), and enjoying what it means to be children.
Yes, we absolutely grow in our relationship and levels, but at heart, we are always God’s kids! And so the encouragement for today, our father desires to spend time with us and would hear us out and teach us everything we need. More importantly, we have a father, who’s got us! So remember today, you are loved and cared for, even when it seems physically different on earth, there’s the one big guy in your corner.
Reflection: What does it mean to you to have God as a father?
Prayer:
Dear father, thank You for Your word, teach me how to be a child again, and may I always be in awe of You, thank you for being my father. I desire to know you more, in Jesus name, Amen
