I look up and there’s a crowd
Two pair of eyes like infinity staring at me
What do I do?
Where do I go?
A pin drop can literally be help
The time I awaited a little too patiently has come
Time to make a choice
They say the choices you make can break you
This one I made is supposed to make me
So even when it seems unknown
Even when the waters turn to storms
And every physical bone in my body tells me different
I’ll hold on
Because I know You are here and You’ve got me
And that’s all I really need
As a kid I always wondered what it’s like to follow Jesus. every Sunday I would follow the fam to church and definitely was one of the ones who would easily be identified as a goody goody (for lack of a better word lol). Would speak up, and answer questions in class, I loved looking smart. I learned a lot of stories about the Bible, but it really wasn’t until junior high school that I really started this journey of following Christ.
Who is this Jesus and why do we follow him?
He is the way, truth and life (John 14:6), and because of his sacrifice, we who were once condemned can now approach the father in boldness (Ephesians 3:12).
Think of it as a dark alley way where you are in danger of the unknown and suddenly you see a light, and a face that’s friendly and looks like they’re came to help you fight of the danger. And now, you no longer have to be alone anymore because that friend is now with you always.
It’s interesting that the journey with this friend is not as easy as it may seem. It is however worth holding on to. Sometimes it may feel very uncertain and heart wrenching. I’ll share a part of my story here:
“Summer 2023 was just ending and school was starting in a little while. I was super excited to start school. It was going to be my final year of college. It was also one of the hardest years of my life. During that summer, I spent my time having fun, and so when the school year came around, finances became tough. I spent every last money I had saved up on fees payment plan and school supplies, work money was also going towards this. In these moments, I would sit on my bed and cry to God in the silence of my room or panic trying to trust him to take me through. I realized then how easy it was to say ‘it will come’ in times of plenty and believe it. It was much harder to do the same in this time but really at this point, I had no other option but to hope and believe in His word. Over the course of that year, money dwindled more and more and payment dates were closer and closer and all I had left was that little hope that some day before the date came, there would be a divine supply. I waited and waited and waited and waited, the due date came and went by, and I almost gave up. But then I got a call, and there was the supply needed coming in so I could pay off these fees and have a surplus. I did not come the way I expected or when, but it did come and it was my big miracle year. That year, God taught me important life lessons on money and exposed some of my habits that needed correction. It’s why I can hope, He’s there even when you don’t realize it”
Now, if you are experiencing this in any form, be encouraged, because God is there and His presence brings peace and it brings provision. Who is Jesus to you and what’s your story with Him?
